Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage (born January 7, 1964) is an American actor.

Born Nicholas Kim Coppola in Long Beach, California to August Coppola, an Italian American writer and professor, and Joy Vogelsang, a German American dancer. In 1976, Cage’s parents divorced and he moved to Beverly Hills with his father. He is the nephew of both Francis Ford Coppola and Talia Shire.

Cage changed his name early in order to try to make his own way in acting without benefiting from his uncle’s reputation. He chose the name Cage after the Marvel comic book hero Luke Cage, Power Man.

He had a small role in Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) (credited under the Coppola name), most of which ended on the cutting room floor. His next notable roles were in the 1983 movies Rumble Fish and Valley Girl, which was his breakout role.

He won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in Leaving Las Vegas (1995). He has developed a reputation for alternating roles in action movies with more serious character-driven dramas, as well as the occasional black comedy.

He has a son, Weston Coppola Cage (born 1990), by model Kristina Fulton. On April 8, 1995 he married actress Patricia Arquette. They divorced on May 18, 2001. On August 10, 2002 he married Lisa Marie Presley and filed for divorce less than four months later. They divorced on May 16, 2004. He married former waitress Alice Kim on July 30, 2004, in a private ceremony in northern California. He has another son, Kal-el Coppola Cage (born October 3, 2005 in New York City), by the latter.

Cage is an immense Elvis fan.

He also is a big fan of comic books, with his favorite character being Marvel Comics’ Ghost Rider, a carnival motorcyclist bent on revenge. In (July 2005), he landed the role of Johnny Blaze, Ghost Rider’s alter ego. The Ghost Rider movie is slated for 2006.

Jennifer Aniston biography

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Joanne Aniston (born February 11, 1969 in Sherman Oaks, California, USA) is an American-born actress of Greek, Scottish, English and Italian descent, perhaps best-known for playing Rachel Green on the television sitcom Friends, and her much-publisized marriage to Brad Pitt.

Personal Life

Aniston is the daughter of John Aniston (originally Yannis Anastasakis) and his wife Nancy Dow. Her father, who was born in Greece (he Americanized his last name to "Aniston" before Jennifer’s birth), is an actor best known for his role on the soap opera Days of Our Lives. Jennifer Aniston’s godfather is actor Telly Savalas, John Aniston’s best friend. Jennifer Aniston spent much of her childhood in New York, where her father won a role in the soap opera Love of Life and later Search for Tomorrow. In 1985, the family moved to Los Angeles when John Aniston started on Days of Our Lives. Aniston’s mother, from whom she is now estranged, is an actress of half Scottish, as well as English and Italian descent; through her, Jennifer is a direct descendant of the royal House of Stuart of Scotland.

Aniston previously dated Adam Duritz and Tate Donovan in low-profile relationships. Her pairing with actor Brad Pitt was very high-profile in the media. She married Pitt on July 29, 2000, in a Malibu wedding. They separated on January 7, 2005, and Aniston officially filed for divorce on March 25, 2005.

On August 25, 2005, David Hesterbey was arrested for trespassing after allegedly entering Aniston’s Malibu home.

In November 2005, Aniston was named GQ Magazine’s Woman of the Year.

She is currently dating actor Vince Vaughn.

Acting Career

Aniston as "Woman of the Year", on the cover of GQ MagazineAttending Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts during 1987, Aniston was a member of the drama club. Her desire to become an actress grew as she worked in off-Broadway productions such as For Dear Life and Dancing on Checker’s Grave. She moved to Hollywood and appeared in her first television roles in 1990, starring as a regular on the short-lived series Molloy and in the TV movie Camp Cucamonga. She also co-starred in the short-lived Ferris Bueller the same year, a television adaptation of the 1986 teen movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (it barely lasted a season). Aniston then starred in two more failed sitcoms, The Edge and Muddling Through and guest-starring on shows such as Quantum Leap, Herman’s Head, and Burke’s Law. After this string of flops, especially her appearance in the critically-derided horror movie Leprechaun, Aniston seriously considered giving up acting, until a script for a new sitcom on NBC’s 1994-1995 fall line-up came her way.

In 1994, the producers of the new NBC show called Friends originally wanted Aniston to audition for the role of Monica Geller, but she persuaded them that the role of Rachel Green was more suited to her character. She played the character until the show ended in 2004.

Alicia Silverstone biography

Alicia Silverstone

Alicia Silverstone (born October 4, 1976) is an American actress. She first came to widespread attention in the music video for Aerosmith’s Cryin and later starred in "crazy" and several Hollywood motion pictures. According to critics, she has demonstrated a versatile acting talent in a range of parts, from femme fatale in The Crush to quirky comedy in Clueless. She is also noted for her strong views on animal welfare and is a committed vegan. In 2004, Silverstone was voted sexiest female vegetarian.

Alicia SilverstoneSilverstone has continued to make a wide range of movie and television appearances, appearing mostly in comedy and action roles (she is still widely known for her role in Clueless), although proving herself versatile enough to tackle the major Shakespeare production Love’s Labour’s Lost. Recently, she has extended her repertoire by working as both a television and film producer.

Silverstone reportedly refuses to appear nude in any of her movies. Because of this, she requires a body double in her place for nude scenes. When she starred in the stage version of The Graduate, she insisted on wearing underwear for the famous nude-scene. The producers were forced to let her do this because, otherwise, she would have resigned from the show.

Silverstone was born in San Francisco, California, to English Jewish parents Monty Silverstone, real-estate investor, and Didi Radford, a Scottish-born former flight attendant. She was raised in Hillsborough, California. Alicia is the youngest of Monty and Didi’s three children but she also has a half-sister, Kezi Silverstone, who’s a rock singer in London from Monty’s previous marriage and a half-brother, David Silverstone. When Alicia was six, Monty took some photos of his young daughter. The photos allowed her to get some modeling gigs which then led to television commercials (the first being for Domino’s Pizza).

Alicia later attended San Mateo High School in San Mateo, California where she was a cheerleader. During this time she acquired some early modelling and advertising work and eventually got the part of the ‘dream girl’ on American TV series The Wonder Years. She won a leading part in the 1993 movie The Crush, playing a girl who sets out to ruin an older man after her teenage crush is spurned, for which she won two awards at the 1994 MTV Movie Awards. Silverstone actually became legally emancipated at the age of 15 in order to work the hours required for the shooting schedule of The Crush.

She went on to star in three Aerosmith music videos, entitled Cryin, Crazy, and Amazing which were hugely successful both for the band and Silverstone, making her a household name. Around this period, Silverstone was offered the role of Valerie Malone, on Beverly Hills 90210. After she turned it down, the role went to Tiffani Thiessen.

After Clueless became a huge sleeper hit and critical darling during the summer of 1995, Silverstone was hailed as the woman of the hour, and branded the spokeswoman for an emerging young generation. As a result, she was able to sign a deal with Columbia-TriStar worth $10 million. As part of the package, she got a three-year first-look deal for her own production company, "First Kiss Productions."

The first movie to be released by "First Kiss Productions" was a 1997 black comedy called Excess Baggage. Excess Baggage, a movie in which Silverstone played a chain smoking, underage drinking, rich brat, who fakes her own kidnapping in order to get her father’s attention was not as criticially or commercially embraced as Clueless. Silverstone also came under fire (especially by E!) for receiving such a lucrative production deal so early in her career. Excess Baggage was such a disappointment, that after just one film, Columbia-TriStar quietly let their production deal with Silverstone expire.

Around the time she was featured as Batgirl in Batman and Robin, Silverstone was lambasted by tabloid media and mainstream press alike for putting on weight. Though hardly obese by any standard, Silverstone had obviously put on more weight than the public was used to seeing her carry, and this started a whirlwind of rumours which affected her personal life. Ironically, she was turned down for the lead in 1994’s My Father the Hero because the producers said that she was too heavy for the part. The role ultimately went to Katherine Heigl instead. It didn’t help Silverstone’s cause that Batman and Robin was an even bigger critical and commercial failure than her other movie from 1997, Excess Baggage.

For some time, Silverstone, despite her young age, gained the reputation of being a "has-been", who reached her peak with the Aerosmith videos and Clueless. She effectively removed herself from the public eye for many years, resurfacing in the critically acclaimed television show Miss Match, which was cancelled after thirteen episodes. Silverstone later acknowledged that she hates the trappings of fame, insisting that being a celebrity is a horrific ordeal that she wouldn’t want her worst enemy to suffer. According to Silverstone "Fame is not anything I wish on anyone. You start acting because you love it. Then success arrives, and suddenly you’re on show."[1]

Silverstone married her longtime boyfriend Christopher Jarecki, lead singer of the band S.T.U.N., at a beach front ceremony at Lake Tahoe on June 11, 2005. The pair dated for eight years before the wedding.

Claudia Schiffer biography

Claudia Schiffer

Claudia Schiffer (born August 25, 1970 in Rheinberg, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German model who reached supermodel status during the 1990s.

Schiffer began modelling in 1987, after being spotted in a nightclub in Düsseldorf. Weeks later she appeared in Elle magazine. Within a short time she modelled for Chanel. In the early 1990s she starred in Guess? jeans ads in North America. She has appeared in around ten motion pictures.

Schiffer was long engaged to, but never married, the magician David Copperfield. On May 25, 2002 she married film producer Matthew de Vere Drummond, né Matthew Vaughn, son of George Albert Harley Drummond (also known as George de Vere Drummond).

It was widely reported at the time of Claudia Schiffer’s marriage that one day she could become the Countess of Oxford because her father-in-law was in line of succession to the Earldom of Oxford and Mortimer. She is disqualified on two counts: Matthew’s illegitimacy would bar him from any succession and George Harley Drummond is not in line for succession as he is not descended from the male line.

Claudia and Matthew have two children: a son, Caspar Matthew De Vere Drummond, born in London on January 30, 2003 and a daughter, Clementine, born in London on November 11, 2004.

Kelly Preston biography

Kelly Preston

Kelly Kamalelehua Palzis (born October 13, 1962 in Honolulu, Hawaii) is an American actress.

Preston had a modeling career when she was a teenager. At 16, she was discovered by a fashion photographer who helped her get acting work in commercials and other small parts, which eventually developed into a successful movie career.

Preston has been married to John Travolta since 1991. Preston put her career on hold after the wedding, opting to be a wife and mother when Travolta’s career took off again in the 1990s. The couple have two children, a son and a daughter; she also has a son by her first marriage to actor Kevin Gage. Kelly does not use the surname "Travolta" professionally.

Both Preston and Travolta are Scientologists, and Preston appeared in the film Battlefield Earth (produced by John Travolta, based on the novel by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard). Her role is sometimes incorrectly described as "starring" even though she only appears in one scene. She plays a Psychlo female encountered in a bar (possibly a prostitute) whose primary talent is implied to be fellatio.

Recently, she has taken up the issue of overmedication and children. In keeping with Scientology precepts, Preston believes that schools are forcing or pressuring students and their families to medicate them for ADD unnecessarily. She has testified before the Florida state legislature encouraging the passage of a bill to ban such practice. While there is already a federal law to that effect, only schools receiving federal funding are subject to its terms.

She also devotes much of her time as a board member of the Children’s Health Environmental Coalition (CHEC), a non-profit organization dedicated to educating parents about environmental toxins and potential health hazards for children with illnesses. She joined after their son Jett was diagnosed with Kawasaki syndrome, an illness that mostly affects children and results in severe allergies and asthma attacks.

Trivia

Preston’s former boyfriends include George Clooney and Charlie Sheen. After living with Sheen for one year (and receiving a very large diamond ring from him), Preston ended the relationship in 1990 shortly after an incident in which Sheen accidentally shot her in the arm.

John Travolta married Kelly Preston twice. Their first wedding (September 5, 1991) was performed by a French Scientologist minister, but it was later declared illegal. They married again within the month.

In 2004, Kelly Preston was featured in the chart-topping Maroon 5 music video, "She Will Be Loved". The video features a dangerous love triangle and some steamy romantic scenes between Preston and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.

Christina Aguilera biography

Christina Aguilera

Christina Maria Aguilera (born December 18, 1980 in Staten Island, New York), colloquially known as Xtina, is an American-born pop singer-songwriter of Ecuadorian and Irish descent. She is most often recognized by her notable vocal abilities and unorthodox fashion sense. Her vocal skills have been compared to those of singers such as Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, and she is one of the most prominent recording artists of her generation. She has achieved four number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as well as two top five albums and 4 Grammy Awards in the United States.

Early Years

Christina Aguilera grew up mainly in the Pittsburgh suburb of Wexford, Pennsylvania, after living in various places around the world. Her father, Fausto Aguilera, is a U.S. Army sergeant of Ecuadorian descent, and her mother, Shelly Loraine Fidler (now known as Shelly Kearns), is a Spanish translator from Newfoundland, Canada, and of remote Irish descent. Aguilera’s parents met while Fausto was serving at Earnest Harmon Air Force Base in Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Since Aguilera was able to talk, she set a goal to become a professional singer. As a child she performed at block parties and in talent competitions — defeating opponents with little effort. Aguilera soon gained media attention, and was known to some as "the little girl with the big voice".

On March 15, 1990, she appeared on Star Search singing Ella Fitzgerald’s "Sunday Kind of Love", but failed to win. Soon after losing on Star Search, she returned home and appeared on Pittsburgh’s KDKA-TV’s "Wake Up with Larry Richert" to perform the same song again. Later on, she would sing "Vision of Love", Mariah Carey’s first single, and astonished everybody in attendance by hitting every riff and note, including Carey’s trademark whistle register note. People remarked that the then-ten year old "sounded twenty".

Throughout her youth in Pittsburgh, Aguilera sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" before Pittsburgh Steelers football and Pittsburgh Pirates baseball games. Her first major role in entertainment came in 1993 when she joined the Disney Channel’s variety show The New Mickey Mouse Club. Her co-stars included Britney Spears, as well as Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez (who went on to join *NSYNC) and Keri Russell (who would go on to become the star of Felicity).

Aguilera’s first hit single was "All I Wanna Do", which was a collaborative effort recorded in Japan with Japanese pop sensation Keizo Nakanishi. In 1997, Aguilera competed in an international singing contest at the Golden Stag Festival in Transylvania, Romania, where she shared the stage with Sheryl Crow and Diana Ross. In 1998, after proving herself as a singer with a high, powerful chest voice, singing the High "E" note an octave above middle "C" on a cover of Whitney Houston’s "Run to You" which she recorded with an old tape recorder in her bathroom, she was selected to perform the song "Reflection" for the Disney animated production of Mulan (1998). The music video promoting the film featured a young Aguilera with bobbed hair. It was her first music video. "Reflection" peaked at number fifteen on the Adult Contemporary Singles Chart. The song was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for a Motion Picture in 1998.

Christina Aguilera: Debut

Aguilera on the cover of her 1999 debut album, Christina Aguilera.Under the exclusive representation of Steve Kurtz, her self-titled album, Christina Aguilera, was released on August 24, 1999. It reached the top of the Billboard 200 and Canadian album charts, selling over eight million copies in the United States alone. It was released the same week as Puff Daddy’s long-awaited second album Forever, and showed Aguilera’s instant rise to fame by beating him to the number one spot. "Genie in a Bottle", "What a Girl Wants", and "Come on Over (All I Want is You)" all reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 during 1999 and 2000, and "I Turn to You" peaked at number three. However, Aguilera did not only enjoy commercial success; it became obvious that the industry thought she had talent when she won for Best New Artist at the 2000 Grammy Awards. She was also nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Genie in a Bottle". "Obvious", the final track of the album was one of the original demo tracks that was sent to Ron Fair before Christina was signed with Aguilera’s record label, RCA.

In 2000, Aguilera first emphasized her Latino heritage, following the Latin Pop trend of the time, by releasing her first Spanish-language album, Mi Reflejo. This album contained Spanish-language versions of songs from her English debut as well as new Spanish tracks. It reached twenty-seven on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Latin album charts. In 2001, the album won Christina a Latin Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Album. The single "Falsas Esperanzas" from the album reached the top forty in Argentina in 2001. Ricky Martin asked her to duet with him on the track "Nobody Wants to be Lonely" from his album Sound Loaded; the song was released as the second single from the album in 2001, reaching the top five in the United Kingdom and Germany, top twenty in the U.S., and top forty in Canada, Switzerland, and Australia.

Just Be Free: unauthorized material

Aguilera on the cover of Just Be Free at the age of 15.In 2000, a single emerged into record stores called "Just Be Free", one of the demos Aguilera recorded when she was about 15 years old. When RCA Records discovered the single, they officially advised fans not to purchase it and had German authorities pull the single off shelves as well. Months later, Warlock Records was set to release Just Be Free; an album which contains the demo tracks.

Aguilera filed a breach of contract and unfair-competition suit against Warlock and the album’s producers to block the release. Instead, the two parties came to a settlement to release the album. Aguilera lent out her name, likeness and image for an unspecified amount of damages. Many of the details of the lawsuit remain confidential. When the album was released on August 21, 2001, it had a photograph of Christina when she was fifteen years old.

Change in Management

Although Aguilera’s album was very well received, she was dissatisfied with the music and image her management had created for her. At the time, Aguilera was marketed as a bubblegum pop artist, because of the genre’s upward financial trend. However, she publicly mentioned plans of her next album to have much more depth, both musically and lyrically. Steve Kurtz’s influence in matters of the singer’s creative direction, the role of being her exclusive personal manager and overscheduling has in part caused her to seek legal means of terminating their management contract.

On October 13, 2000 Aguilera filed a Breach of Fiduciary Duty lawsuit against Kurtz for improper, undue and inappropriate influence over her professional activities, as well as fraud. According to legal documents, Kurtz did not protect her rights and interests. Instead, he took action that was for his own interest, at the cost of hers. The lawsuit came about when Aguilera discovered Kurtz used more of her commissionable income than what he was allotted, and had paid other managers to assist him. She also petitioned the California State Labor Commission to nullify the contract.

When she terminated Kurtz’s services, Irving Azoff was hired as her new manager. The change in management marked a new change in how Aguilera was marketed, as well as what music she would do in the future.

Kurtz countersued on October 27 for breach of contract, claiming that the singer violated the same agreement she had sued to void. In the lawsuit, he included others close to Aguilera, alleging their intent to sabotage his business relationship with Aguilera. He also singled out Azoff for being in violation of the terms of Kurtz’s contract.

Stripped: Career Development

Aguilera on the cover of StrippedOn October 29, 2002, after much delay, Aguilera’s second full-length English album, Stripped, was released in the U.S. The album was not received as well as her debut by most critics. The majority of Stripped was co-written by Aguilera, was about eighty minutes long, and influenced by many different subjects and music styles. "Impossible", a collaboration with Alicia Keys, is a jazz-inspired song about someone who is trying to get through to one who is quiet and withdrawn. "Soar" is a gospel-inspired song about becoming self-reliant. "Make Over" is a pop rock song about becoming an individual and people trying to change her. Aguilera’s most emotionally challenging song on the album could possibly be "I’m OK". This track chronicles in detail how Aguilera was abused as a young child by her father, and she thanks her mother for her love through that time in her life.

However, Aguilera’s vocals were much overlooked as she began to cultivate a more sexually provocative image. After the release of the album, she took part in photo shoots for magazines such as Maxim, Rolling Stone and Cosmo Girl. Many of these photographs featured her nude or semi-nude. She denied that this change was a matter of publicity, claiming that the image better reflected her true personality than did the image she cultivated back in 1999.

Initially, the raunchy image had a negative effect on Aguilera in the U.S. While the video for "Dirrty" became a huge hit on MTV, it stalled at a disappointing forty-eight on the Hot 100 and quickly fell off the singles chart. However, the song was a huge hit worldwide, reaching number one in several countries and on the World Chart. The album entered the U.K. and U.S. album charts at number two, and at number three in Canada, where they all ultimately peaked. Despite going double-platinum in the U.S. after only eight weeks on the chart, the album began to drop quickly with nothing but Aguilera’s star power to back it up. The second single, "Beautiful", was quickly released in the U.S. in late 2002. It instantly became a huge radio hit and allowed three more hits to be released from the album in the following two years: "Fighter", "Can’t Hold Us Down", and "The Voice Within". The success of subsequent singles off the album gave Stripped massive staying power, as it stayed on the album charts well into 2004. This staying power was demonstrated most effectively in the UK, where the album remained consistently in the top twenty album charts between late 2002 and late 2004. Stripped went on to ship four million copies in the U.S. and ended up at number ten on Billboard’s Year-End Album Chart. The album also went quadruple platinum in Australia despite only reaching a peak of number seven, again a reflection of its consistency between late 2002 and 2004. Kelly Clarkson’s first single ‘Miss Independent’ was cowritten by Aguilera, and was originally supposed to be a song on Stripped. Aguilera was the number-one Billboard Female Artist (albums and singles) of 2003; however, she did not attend the event, and the award was given to Beyoncé, who was the number-two female artist of that year. This caused much controversy amongst fans.

The Stripped Tours

In early 2003, Aguilera aroused much commentary when she gained a noticeable amount of weight. Unflattering photographs of her flabby midsection spilling out of her conventionally skimpy costumes were circulated. She was quoted as saying, "I couldn’t care less about stupid diets. Eating is sensual and fun. I’m not going to let it be spoiled by calorie-counting." Later, she gave the reason for her weight gain as preparation for her upcoming Summer tour.

On June 4, Aguilera joined Justin Timberlake on the final leg of his international "Justified" tour, held in the U.S. This portion of the tour became a co-headliner called the "Justified & Stripped" tour. On August 9, an overhead lighting grid collapsed from the ceiling of the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, causing major damage to the sound and video equipment below. Since the collapse occurred hours before the performance, only a few stagehands were injured. As a result, a few shows were cancelled or postponed. In the fourth quarter of that year, Aguilera continued to tour internationally without Timberlake, and changed the name of the tour to simply the "Stripped" tour. Meanwhile, she dyed her hair black. The tour was one of the top-grossing tours of that year, as it sold out most of its venues. It also was named by Rolling Stone readers as the best tour of the year.

In light of the tour’s success, another U.S. tour was scheduled to begin in mid-2004 with a new theme and featuring Chingy as an opening act. The tour was scrapped due to Aguilera’s vocal chord injuries suffered shortly before its opening date. It was later reported by The Sun tabloid that low ticket sales and lack of new material were actually the major factors in the tour’s cancellation. Aguilera has since denied the report.

Post-Stripped Events

Aguilera and Madonna during a performance at the 2003 MTV Video Music AwardsIn a tribute to Madonna’s performance at the inaugural MTV Video Music Awards’ ceremony, Aguilera performed a much-publicized lesbian kiss with the singer-actress at the 2003 edition of the ceremony on August 28. The incident occurred during the opening performance of Madonna’s songs "Like a Virgin" and "Hollywood"; however, it was heavily overshadowed by the kiss between Madonna and Britney Spears during the same performance.

A January 2004, ZOO Magazine (a Danish men’s magazine) article reported that Aguilera is possibly bisexual. The article quotes her stating in an interview: "I find it hornier looking at women than men. Sorry, I love experimenting with my sexuality. If that means girls, then so be it." The article also reports that Christina enjoys casual sex. "I have casual sex, I love casual sex. But that doesn’t mean I’m incapable of keeping my legs together," Aguilera is quoted as saying. Because of the tabloid nature of articles in ZOO, the factual accuracy of the article is dubious.

Aguilera hosted Saturday Night Live on February 21, 2004, and participated in various parody skits such as "Do You Know Who My Father Is?" which lampoons Win Ben Stein’s Money, and a skit parodying the movie You Got Served. Her dead-on impersonation of Kim Cattrall’s Sex and the City character, Samantha, was also praised.

Aguilera later decided to embrace a more mature image; this move was met with more praise than criticism, with articles using punch lines such as "From Crass to Class". She eventually dyed her hair cherry-blonde and recorded a jingle, "Hello", for a Mercedes-Benz ad, becoming the new face of Mercedes-Benz. Shortly after, she dyed her hair blonde and cut it short, and took on a Marilyn Monroe look; she is believed by many of her fans to be one of the main proponents (along with Gwen Stefani and Ashley Judd) in bringing back the 1930s-1940s Hollywood glamour look.

Image used in the Declare Yourself billboard campaign. Photograph by David LaChapelleIn the run-up to the 2004 United States presidential election, Aguilera was featured on billboards for the "Only You Can Silence Yourself" online voter registration drive run by the nonpartisan, nonprofit campaign "Declare Yourself". In these political advertisements, Aguilera is shown with her mouth sewn shut, to symbolize the effects of not voting.

In late Summer 2004, Aguilera released, almost consecutively, two singles. The first, "Car Wash", was taken from the soundtrack of the hit movie Shark Tale. It is a collaboration with popular rapper Missy Elliott, and is a cover version of Rose Royce’s disco hit. The second song is also a collaboration, but this time as a second single from one of Nelly’s double-release albums, Sweat, titled "Tilt Ya’ Head Back". Aguilera appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards to perform it with him; it was a visually striking and effective performance in which Aguilera, a la Judy Garland, started her belting perched atop a grand piano. Aguilera copied another legendary look for the video: Marilyn Monroe’s. Both singles flopped commercially in the U.S., but did considerably better in other parts of the world; "Tilt" reached number one in a few countries, including the Philippines. "Tilt Ya’ Head Back", formerly rumored to be "Tilt Cha’ Head Back", was well received in the U.S. at first, but sales quickly deteriorated mainly due to its lack of radio appeal and promotion. In spite of its promotion, "Tilt" recently went platinum in Australia for selling over 40,000 copies, while, "Car Wash" was certified gold for sales of over 25,000 copies. "Tilt" was later certified gold in the U.S. by the RIAA in 2005.

After much delay, Aguilera’s first DVD live-recording from a concert tour, Stripped Live in the UK, was released in November 2004, excluding her performance of "Make Over", due to its similarity with the song "Overload" by the Sugababes. In late December, she officially released a fragrance, Xpose, which has only been available in a few European countries.

Recent Events

After failed relationships with Latin dancer Jorge Santos (chronicled in her song "Infatuation" from her second album Stripped) and an unnamed producer, she began dating music executive Jordan Bratman. After dating him for almost three years, their engagement was announced in February 2005. In an interview with MTV at an Oscar party, she announced she would like to have her wedding in the Winter of 2005. Their wedding was conducted in Napa Valley, California on November 19, 2005.

The VH1 program The Fabulous Life Of… Christina Aguilera estimated that the singer has a net worth of between thirty and forty million United States dollars.

Herbie Hancock’s album cover, "Possibilities"Aguilera collaborated with Herbie Hancock on his new album "Possibilities". The album was released in stores on August 30, 2005 and debuted at number twenty-two on the Billboard charts. Her track is a cover of Leon Russell’s "A Song for You". Since then, Christina Aguilera has appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Tonight Show.

Cameron Diaz biography

Cameron Diaz

Cameron Michelle Díaz (born August 30, 1972) is an American film actress.

Diaz was born and raised in San Diego, California, the daughter of Emilio Díaz, a Cuban-American father who worked as a foreman for an oil company, and mother Billie Early, an exporting agent whose ancestry includes English, German, and Native American. She attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School.

At age 16 she landed a contract with the prestigious Elle modelling agency. After graduating from High School she went to work in Japan, there meeting video director Carlo de la Torre. On her return to America she moved in with him. For the next few years her modelling took her ’round the world, working for contracts with major companies.

At the age of 21 she auditioned for a part in the Jim Carrey movie The Mask. To her own surprise, and with no previous acting experience, she was cast as the female lead. Immediately on getting the part she signed up for acting lessons.

Over the next three years she honed her acting skills in low budget, independent films such as The Last Supper (1995), Feeling Minnesota (1996), and She’s The One (1996).

She returned to mainstream as "perfect" fiancée in the romantic comedy in My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997) with Julia Roberts. Her lead role in the massive crude comedy hit There’s Something About Mary (1998). The film grossed $369.8 million worldwide and brought her genuine star status.

Díaz then returned to independent film with the quirky Being John Malkovich (1999), which earned her Best Supporting Actress nominations at the Golden Globes, the BAFTA Awards and the SAG Awards. That year she also appeared in Oliver Stone’s Any Given Sunday. Both films enjoyed critical and commercial success and critics heralded Díaz’s performances.

She then went on her biggest box-office tear. In 2000 she starred in the TV-to-film adaptation of Charlie’s Angels that made $264.1 million worldwide and voiced a character in Shrek which made $484.4 million worldwide. In 2001 she starred in Cameron Crowe’s Vanilla Sky which made $203.3 worldwide and saw her nominated for Support Actress honors at the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards and the AFI Awards. She won Best Supporting Actress honors for the role at the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards and the Boston Society of Film Critics Awards. In January 2002, she became only the 2nd actress to ever be paid $20 million for a role (Julia Roberts was the first). when she signed to be paid that much for Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.

Yet things began to sour for Diaz after joining the $20 million club. In 2002 she saw her chick-flick The Sweetest Thing tank at the box office. She then appeared in Gangs of New York. Despite of having the honor of appearing in a film directed by Martin Scorsese and appearing in a film that was nominated for many Academy Awards, her performance wasn’t considered a highlight of the film. In 2003 the sequel Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle underperformed at the box office. Things looked up a bit as she was paid $10 million for a little over a weeks worth of voice work on Shrek 2, which smashed box-office records, grossing $920.6 million worldwide in total.

Diaz continues to struggle to appear in a successful film in which she makes a live action apperance. After having avoided smaller films in the past couple of years, she starred in Curtis Hanson’s In Her Shoes, based on the Jennifer Weiner novel. While the film may have restored her good graces with some critics, it quickly fizzled out at the box office.

She will star in Nancy Meyers’ Holiday in 2006 and Shrek 3 in 2007.
